(350 words) The central hero of the poem N.V. Gogol's "Dead Souls" is Chichikov, all the action of the poem is tied to it. This hero buys the souls of the dead peasants from the landlords, because it benefits him. But can the hero himself be considered dead because of his actions?
The title of the poem "Dead Souls" hides many secrets, and all the heroes (according to the author himself) are dead, living a life far from ideal. For Chichikov, the most important goal is profit in everything. The hero chases a lot of money and from childhood he was accustomed to value money and be able to quickly find it. He is taught to communicate with people and quickly gains their trust.
The writer reveals the image of Chichikov gradually, as the stories of his adventures. In each chapter, we learn something new about him. The ability to communicate with people and skillful conversation is Chichikov’s tried and tested tool in all fraudulent operations. He knows with whom and how to conduct a conversation. Meetings with the landowners show Chichikov’s exceptional persistence in achieving the goal, the ease of reincarnation, unusual resourcefulness and energy, which hide the prudence of predatory nature behind their external softness and grace.
But the hero has positive character traits. Chichikov has a strong and persistent disposition, which helps him to go forward and achieve his goal. He had a good sense of patience and always completed his goal. The hero could work long and hard, pretend, play a role, and, in the end, achieve his goal. If he knew how to properly use his positive qualities, he could become a positive hero of the poem of N.V. Gogol.
This is not to say that his soul is completely dead, most likely she is just sleeping. He, like everyone else, dreams of his own family and happiness. In it you can awaken the feelings of a real, honest person. But it depends only on the desire and its goals for the future life. The hero simply pursues wealth that does not allow him to live a measured life. A man from childhood goes to pick up any penny in his pocket.
Thus, I want to conclude that Chichikov’s soul is not dead, she’s simply not ready for awakening. It is possible to wake a person’s soul if he himself understands that he needs it. The author writes with hope about the hero and leads him to the disclosure of his human soul.
